Why Focus on SharePoint Designer

In my first post, I mentioned a focus on SharePoint Designer. Why?

1. SharePoint Designer is an awesome new product.
Microsoft invested a huge amount of R&D money in this new Office System. And who doesn’t love the new SharePoint, Word, the open xml documnet format and all the rest. But replacing Front Page with SharePoint Designer may have been the best investment. Without SharePoint Designer, branding would be near impossible, workflow customization limited and we wouldn’t have the Data View Web Part. But don’t just take my word for it, check out Microsoft’s Top 10 Reasons to try SharePoint Designer.

2. No one’s talking about SharePoint Designer
Besides 35 posts on the MS SharePoint Designer Team Blog and a similar number at heathersolomon.com, who’s blogging about this exciting new tool? I think there’s a gap here, and this blog may help fill a small part of that gap.

3. Focus
A good blog has focus. From Slashdot.org "News for Nerds" to LifeHacker "Tech tricks, tips and downloads for getting things done", good blogs focus one doing one thing and doing it well.

Do you use SharePoint Designer? Let me know in the comments below or send me an email at sharepointdesigner@resing.net.
